We’re happy to announce that TAT has partnered with Mexem LTD to offer discounted commission pricing for IBKR users (available in most countries outside of North America). To receive the discounted .45/contract (and no $1 minimum) commission rate from Mexem LTD for your IBKR trades, you must link your IBKR account to Mexem LTD as your introducing broker or open a new account with Mexem.
If you do not have an IBKR account or you want to create a new account associated with Mexem to take advantage of these TAT rates you can do so with this link:
https://accounts.mexem.com/partner?id=S4dk6uG4
If you have an existing IBKR account, you can quickly link it to Mexem. Instructions for doing so are at the following link. You will use the broker information in the table below.
https://www.mexem.com/ib-link-account
Mexem operates 3 brokers to support accounts from different jurisdictions.
IB Account Jurisdiction | iBroker ID Number | Advisor/Broker Account Title |
IBKR Ireland (EU-based accounts) | I7078970 | Mexem LTD |
IBKR UK (Non-EU accounts) | I2078970 | Mexem LTD |
IBKR LLC | I3276243 | MEXEM LTD |
Before reporting any issues with the linking process, clients should try all three options (IE, UK, and Africa) to ensure they are using the correct jurisdiction for their IB account.
Important Notes:
- The iBroker Name, ID Number, and Advisor/Broker Account Title must be entered exactly as shown in the table, respecting uppercase and lowercase letters, spaces, and parentheses where applicable.
- Clients with IB accounts under the USA jurisdiction but residing outside the USA or Canada can link their account to IBKR UK or IBKR LLC.
- Clients physically residing in the USA, Canada, Japan, or China CANNOT link their account to MEXEM.
Since the commission changes are done manually, Mexem needs to know immediately when you complete the linking—otherwise, you may lose a day of discounted commissions. It is required to email vincenzo@mexem.com (and cc support@tradeautomationtoolbox.com) as soon as you finish linking and provide your IBKR account number(s) to request the TAT discounted commission rates. Failure to do this will result in you receiving Mexem's standard rates, which may be higher than IBKR.
There is a timing issue with how long it takes to approve these changes, where there is 1 business day where commission rates could be higher, once the account has been linked to Mexem, but before their discounted TAT commissions are applied the following day. You may want to avoid trading this day if you trade a high volume.
On the day the client links their account to Mexem, they will continue being charged IB commissions throughout that business day. If they complete the linking before 8 AM Los Angeles time, it can be approved immediately, meaning:
Day 1 (Linking Day): current IB commissions apply.
Day 2: Mexem full commissions apply. (Up to $2.00/contract)
Day 3: The agreed $0.45 commission rate kicks in.
NOTE: Mexem has offered to refund the difference on the Day 2 trading between the higher price and the original IBKR fees if you trade on that day and incur higher than normal costs. You need to request this refund directly from vincenzo@mexem.com.

Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does it affect margin calculation (portfolio margin, etc) or any other aspect except fees?
No, only fees. Margin is responsibility of IBKR
2) Does it affect order processing in any way (e.g. lower priority for mexem customers compared to direct IB customers)? Do orders route to Mexem in any way, or do they still just go from TWS directly to IBKR servers?
Nope, directly from TWS to IBKR. Nothing is changed about order execution.
3) What about standard customer service, am I still allowed to contact IB like before or is the customer service "replaced" by Mexem and I can't use IBs customer service any longer?
Once you link your account to Mexem, they will be your contact for support on your account moving forward. They provide responsive support in many languages in the regions they support.
4) Does the tax reporting information all stay with IBKR or is Mexem replacing IBKR from a legal / tax point of view?
Beneficiary of the account is IBKR, money is legally sent to JPMorgan depositary bank of IBKR. Mexem is the introducing broker of IBKR.
5) If I change my mind, how can I remove the link to Mexem?
The process is fully reversible at any time. You just need to request it via email (vincenzo@mexem.com), and he will inform IB. IB will then activate an option in the client portal where they can request the delink themselves. This process usually takes about a week, as it is handled during the weekend twice a month.
